Monthly Training (April 2016)

Week 1 (April 3 – April 9)

Sunday

Morning run – 1:45 out on the fire roads at Tussey with Eric and Boggs (Gary was a little too sore from Sunday, and was having some IT pain) .We did it at about 7:40 to 7:45 pace, so after the 3:30 slogfest from the day before, this was a pretty productive run.

Monday

Afternoon run – :50 on the roads; tired legs

Tuesday

Afternoon workout – 8 x minute hills. The legs definitely still felt tired from the weekend, but it was good to feel a little last bit of pain before Boston. This was then followed by a soccer game that made my legs feel like complete garbage.

Wednesday

Afternoon run – :15 followed by about a 15 minute stretching session to help the legs a little more.

Thursday

Off

Friday

Afternoon run – :45 easy

Saturday

Morning run – We had a Chem E Department 5k race, so I treated it kind of like a tempo; 18:30ish with probably pretty consistent 6-flat miles.

2016 Faith Centre 5k

Week 4 (April 24 – April 30)

Sunday

Morning run – 1:00 with the Anthym weekend crowd on half fireroads/half trails. It didn’t feel too bad, but it was only an hour at a pretty slow pace.

Monday

Morning lift

Tuesday

Off

Wednesday

Off

Thursday

Afternoon run – :45 easy, and honestly, my legs felt better after doing this and heating, so I think I may just have some gunk or something in my legs that I have to work out

Friday

Afternoon run – :45 easy, and again, legs felt better towards the end

Saturday

Morning run – 1:00 with Boggs and Jake Fisher out at Scotia. It was nice to get on the trails again, and even though it took about half an hour to get feeling good, the last half hour was actually pretty enjoyable.
